Samuel L. Jackson To Host African Slavery Docuseries “Enslaved”
Jackson’s famous voice to a docuseries.
Creation of the entire Western Hemisphere was dependent on the slave trade. If you think about it, not one country from the top of Canada to the tip of Chile speaks an original language. English, French, Spanish, and German languages dominate the western hemisphere due to colonization and slavery. None of those languages existed in the Western Hemisphere prior to the European crusade on the world. Reported by The Hollywood Reporter, a new six-part Canadian documentary will explore the slave trade from Africa that ended up crafting the Americas as we know it.
MIPCOM is an annual trade show held in Cannes, France. The event is currently taking place, and it was announced on Monday (October 15) that Samuel L. Jackson would be hosting the series. Entitled Enslaved, the docuseries will explore the slave trade by using findings from underwater archaeology. This is much more than a TV series,” Jackson said in a statement. Enslaved is an attempt to give a voice to the millions whose voices were silenced.” Emmy-winning director Simcha Jacobovici (The Naked Archaeologist, The Exodus Decoded) is helming the series after having extensive experience with archeological studies in his previous works.
